MIAMI (December 21, 2017) — PortMiami is kicking of the 2017-2018 cruise season welcoming an estimated 35,000 cruise passengers on Friday, December 22, 2017.
PortMiami’s team from safety and security, operations, and customers service among other industry partners are ready to welcome travelers from all over the world to the Cruise Capital. All operations are in place to handle eight of the industry’s most innovative cruise vessels.

“I want to welcome all cruise visitors to Miami-Dade County and encourage them to explore all that our community has to offer,” said Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez. “Cruise passengers are essential to the continual growth and development of the tourism industry in Miami-Dade and contribute millions of dollars to our local economy annually including air travel, hotel nights, entertainment and shopping. I want to thank the 35,000 passengers we’re expecting this Friday for selecting Miami as a destination.”
“PortMiami is home to the world’s most distinguished cruise lines,” said Chairman of the Trade and Tourism Committee Rebeca Sosa. “Last year the Port handled more than 5.3 million cruise passenger, welcoming each and every one with open arms. We’re ready for the 2017-2018 cruise season.”
“Approximately 35,000 cruise passengers will cruise out of PortMiami’s facilities on Friday,” said PortMiami Director Juan M. Kuryla. “It’s definitely a busy time for us at PortMiami and we are ready to welcome our cruise line partners and their passengers with a smile.”
