MT Marine express, an oil tanker managed by Anglo-Eastern Ship Management has gone missing on 01.02.2018 from Cotonou Anchorage, Benin in Gulf of Guinea which was the last contact point of the vessel.
The area is already known for its notorious activities like the hijacking of vessels and kidnapping seafarers for ransom, but the real reason behind the disappearance of the ship is not yet confirmed as no pirate group has claimed responsibility.

An important point to note that this year on Jan 9, another tanker ship MT Barret was hijacked from the same area.
There are 22 crew members onboard the ship carrying 13,000 Tonnes of gasoline oil cargo.
