Dredge Yard is proud to have been awarded a contract for the design and delivery of a customized Cutter Suction dredger ECO 300 from CDC Dredging L.L.C. CDC Dredging is a dredging company based in the United Arab Emirates and mainly operating in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The company is purchasing their new dredger in order to participate in challenging projects involving hard soil.
Typically, dredging hard materials requires powerful, large and heavy dredging equipment. However, the client specified a request for a powerful, but easily transportable and compact dredger design. Therefore, the dismountable ECO 300 will be customized to meet the client’s needs for additional cutting power.
“We are planning to use this unique, newly designed and built, dismountable dredger with 120 kW cutter power to execute challenging projects with hard soil, in locations where big dredgers, with similar power, could not reach, or could not be financially suitable to execute such projects” says Dr. Samer Kelani, Chief Executive Officer, CDC Dredging L.L.C.
Dredge Yard’s Cutter Suction ECO 300 is a shallow draft dredger transportable by truck. To meet the need for powerful cutting performance, the dredger will be customized with increased total installed power (Caterpillar C18 engine in place of the standard C13). The dredger will also feature a hydraulic, rotary drum cutter head, supplied by a collaborating company from Germany. Finally, ECO 300 standard dredging depth of 6-8m will be extended to 12m for canal deepening projects.
Upon CDC Dredging request, the dredger will be assembled and functionally tested in Dredge Yard’s Dubai facility and commissioned on project site. This will make the entire process easily accessible to the client. Furthermore, it allows for more convenient, quicker transport to the destination in UAE, when the dredger is finished.
According to Dr. Kelani, they chose Dredge Yard to deliver this dredger, because is is an “agile company, able to answer all our needs, providing adapted designs and drawings to comply with our requirements for manufacturing a customized dredger, using innovative equipment”. Accordingly, this order placed in August is already to be delivered within three months, despite its custom design.
“We have a standard engineering project, but always adapt it to the wishes of the customer. We are proud that CDC Dredging chose Dredge Yard for this project and look forward to work with, and support them throughout the entire process, as well as after the delivery” says Basel Yousef, Chief Executive Officer, Dredge Yard.
