Close to 316 kg of crystal methamphetamine has been intercepted from a cargo ship by the Australian police in Sydney. The drugs had been concealed in electric barbeque grills and water heaters of the Thai cargo ship.
The Australian Border Force ABF had been tipped off regarding some consignment inconsistencies onboard the Thai cargo vessel at Botany Port. Apparently, the ship had declared 62 large cardboard boxes as food items and electric barbeque grills and that alerted the ABF.
When the police busted the meth consignment they found the drugs to be positive for methamphetamine. The ship had drugs worth 94.5 million Australian dollars onboard.
ABF has launched a joint investigation in association with the Australian Federal Police, New South Wales Police Force’s Organised Crime Squad and New South Wales Commission.
