A ship carrying 18 individuals on board reportedly capsized in the waters off Mimika district in eastern Indonesia on Wednesday. This left 11 individuals missing.
A rescuer informed that a search mission was underway, and seven were rescued.
On Tuesday, the ship was hit by strong waves in poor weather conditions, and was reported to the office on Wednesday, informed George Leo Mercy Rendang, the district’s search and rescue office head.
The ship set sail toward Timika district from a seaport in Sorong town of West Papua Province.
