DSME Launches New Concept Complex Facility To Supply ‘Power + Natural Gas’

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (CEO Lee Seong-geun) It was announced on the 26th that it has obtained basic certification (AIP) for the floating power plant liquefied natural gas cargo handling system (FSPP LNG CHS · Floating Storage Power Plant LNG Cargo Handling System), which is a complex energy supply facility that can supply at the same time.

The complex energy supply facility developed this time by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering produces and supplies up to 200MW of electricity on a floating structure of 161m in length, 60m in width and 33m in height, and stores and regasifies approximately 22,000㎥ of natural gas directly to land. It is a new concept complex plant that can be supplied.

The floating power generation facility has the advantage of reducing costs because the construction period is shorter than that of a general power plant built on land, and it is possible to secure a land site and minimize large-scale civil works. In particular, unlike conventional onshore coal-fired power plants, this facility is an eco-friendly power plant that can protect the ecosystem by using LNG as fuel.

The world-class LNG technology possessed by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering has been grafted to this. Liquefied natural gas transported by sea through LNG bunkering ships is stored in a total of four LNG cargo holds and regasified through installed CHS, and then directly supplied to land.

This facility is expected to be mainly in demand from developing countries where energy supply infrastructure is insufficient or large-scale power generation facilities are difficult to install, and developed countries that require eco-friendly energy supply facilities. It is also expected to be helpful in places where energy supply is concentrated at certain times, such as the Olympics and international fairs.
