The US could soon send a mercy ship to India to tackle the COVID situation there. The proposition has come at a time when thousands are affected in the country because of lack of oxygen and ICU beds.
Amidst this, the US Congress has started discussing how to organize and collaborate to send aid to India, revealed Sheila Jackson Lee, a Congresswoman.
The idea has been proposed by the lawmaker who suggested that sending a mercy ship could be of help. She had made the comments after the United Memorial Center in Houston revealed that they have decided to send COVID assistance to India.

Together with many lawmakers Sheila Jackson Lee have appealed for more global assistance to bring India out of the mess when she started stated that the US has announced “a humanitarian help to India and proposed travel of a mercy ship.”
Another lawmaker, Congresswoman Katherine Clark has reiterated the same commitment when she said that the US should do everything to end the crisis in India and other countries, underlining that the work isn’t over until the pandemic is stopped everywhere in the world.
Indian-American Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi got on with India’s Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu in a virtual meeting where he had extended full support to India’s COVID battle.
Later Sandhu had tweeted thanking the Congressman for supporting the country in this difficult time.
Meanwhile, Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester has heaped praise upon the US Defence Department for taking the COVID assistance to India, stating that it’s good to see it reaching India and she is sending prayers for the entire nation.
At present, nearly 40 countries have come forward to help India to tackle the COVID second wave. Many have sent urgent medical supplies like oxygen equipment, medicines etc, revealed Harsh Vardhan Shringla, the foreign secretary of the country.
