Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering popular as KSOE, a mid-holding enterprise of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, has won the order for nine ships worth 1.33 trillion. The order was placed by three shipping enterprises based in Latin America and Europe. The announcement was made on 10 January.
The ships ordered are four large container vessels of 16,000TEU, a 174,000cbm LNG carrier, and four container vessels of 2,500 TEU. Of them, the large container vessels will be constructed at Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan and delivered in 2025. The ships will boast dual-fuel engines so that they can operate on diesel as well as eco-friendly fuels.
The LNG carrier is expected to be 297m in length, 46.4m in width, and 26.5m in height. It will be constructed at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in Jeollanam-do and final delivery is expected to be done by 2025’s first half.
The 2,500 TEU ships will be constructed at Hyundai Mipo Shipyard in Ulsan and delivered by 2023’s second half. KSOE had earlier won 10 shipbuilding orders that summed up to 1.67 trillion on 4 January. Including the contracts KSOE has signed this time, the firm has won orders worth 3 trillion won within a week.
