Locals Plan To Throw Rotten Eggs At Jeff Bezos’ Super Yacht For Dismantling Historic Bridge

Former CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, has recently faced severe criticism as Rotterdam Bridge is going to be dismantled partially for his megayacht to pass. Billionaire Bezos is going to pay for this operation.

A local named Pablo Strörmann has even made a Facebook event for throwing eggs at Jeff Bezos’ superyacht. The event is currently scheduled for 1 June.

In the description of the event, he calls Rotterdammers to take a box full of rotten eggs and pelt them at the superyacht when it sails via the Hef in Rotterdam. While approximately 3,600 guests have marked it ‘as going’, over 12,800 marked it as interested.

Bezos had commissioned Oceanco to build his yacht, codenamed Y721. This one is currently receiving the finishing touches at Alblasserda, unofficially the ship-building capital for the richest men in the world. The ship will be 417 feet when completed. It is supposed to cost approximately $500 million, and will also be the world’s largest private vessel.

However, for his private vessel to reach the ocean it needs to navigate out of the straits. The path to the ocean includes the Koningshavenbrug Bridge popular as the De Hef.

Officials have focused on the economic and employment advantages of the giant yacht. Marcel Walravens, the local authority project leader of Rotterdam said that it would be impractical to finish the construction anywhere else.

The Koningshaven Bridge was built back in 1878, and in 1940, it was bombed by the Nazis. It was, however, rebuilt later.
