The UN and Turkish teams resumed their vessel inspections following the Black Sea grain exports deal; a UN spokesperson associated with the initiative informed Reuters on Monday after Russia reportedly suspended the participation over the weekend.
Russia, which invaded Ukraine on 24 February, said it paused the role in the deal for an “indefinite term” as it couldn’t guarantee the safety of civilian ships following an attack on its Black Sea fleet toward the farther east.
The UN has reportedly mentioned that it agreed with Turkey and Ukraine on a movement plan on Monday for 16 vessels — 12 outbound from ports based in Ukraine and four inbound — and it also intends to examine 40 outbound vessels that are anchored close to Istanbul during the day.
