Houthi Allies Threaten Attacking Oil-Looting Vessels In Yemen’s Ports

Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, the head of the Yemeni National Salvation Government, has reportedly threatened Tuesday to launch an offensive against “oil-looting” vessels, in line with the most recent Huthi attack on a ship in Hadramut, the eastern Yemeni province.

He added that they would not alert ships in the coming days but would directly attack them. The world needs to know that we will not let the people starve while they manipulate the wealth of Yemen.

A press statement by Bin Habtur highlighted that Sana’a is exercising its right to defend the wealth and interests of the Yemeni citizens and to prevent the theft of the funds of people by those affiliated with the Saudi-led coalition.

This comes through after the Huthis reportedly attacked a port in Hadramut with a drone which was alleged to be part of oil unloading at Al Dhaba port, Yahya Sari, a Huthi military spokesman, denounced.

He said the enemy tried carrying out activities the Armed Forces could observe and handle; however, the vessel on a mission to steal large quantities of oil did not want to pay attention to warnings.

The Yemen war pits the government, which is internationally recognized, currently represented by the Presidential Leadership Council and supported by the international coalition spearheaded against the Huthis by Saudi Arabia, backed by Iran. The Huthis control Sana’a, the capital, and areas in the country’s north and west.

The UN special envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, is striving to bring the parties closer to relaunching the peace procedure after the expiration in October of the truce agreed upon back in April to mark the starting of the month of Ramadan and extended on many occasions.
