As per CBS News, authorities have confirmed that despite a crack on the beam, the Brooklyn Bridge did not suffer any structural damage. Additionally, there were no reported injuries resulting from the incident. The footage shows that the crane was raised as the boat passed beneath the bridge. However, during this process, it became entangled in the track system, leading to the subsequent collision with the bridge.
According to Michelle Krupa from the Coast Guard Operations Unit, the incident occurred as a crane barge passed beneath the bridge. The crane on the barge struck a track system that was in place for maintenance purposes underneath the bridge.
As per the report, the New York City Fire Department stated that the impact of the crash did not affect the integrity of the bridge. Despite the collision between the crane and the bridge’s track system, no structural repercussions would compromise the bridge’s stability or safety.
