Customs officials based in Rotterdam reportedly seized a shipment of over 8,000 kgs of cocaine neatly concealed in a container loaded with bananas, Dutch prosecutors informed on Thursday, the greatest on record at the port.
A spokesperson mentioned that the drugs had traveled via the Panama Canal from Ecuador to Rotterdam before the sniffer dogs discovered them on a container check on 13 July. The seizure was kept confidential to assist in the examination, which is still ongoing.
The drugs having an estimated value of 600 million have been fully destroyed.
No arrests in this case have been made in the Netherlands so far, per the spokesperson.
