The Panama Canal expects to maintain its daily vessel transit and maximum draft restrictions for ten more months (at least) amid a prolonged drought, per an official associated with the waterway, on Thursday.
Extending the restrictions would allow the canal some room to preserve water before the next rainy season.
There is currently an increase in the number of arrivals. It is a peak season as December is soon approaching, so merchandise for Christmas has been moving fast, the deputy administrator of the canal, Ilya Espino, mentioned in a press interview with Reuters.
