Two lifeboat crew members were reportedly sent on Tuesday by the UK Coastguard to assist a 500-ton vessel that had run aground near Scotland.
Kyle of Lochalsh and Portree RNLI lifeboats had been requested at about 6.40 pm to attend the site close to Kylerhea, wherein the 40-meter-long fish carrier had gotten stuck bringing the boat back to the water.
However, by the time the crews reached the scene a little before 8 p.m., the tide had receded way too far to be able to do so.
It was decided that the stricken vessel’s crew would be transferred to another ship, and an attempt would be made to refloat the boat as the tide returned.
Andrew MacDonald, a spokesman associated with Kyle RNLI Lifeboat, explained that the vessel had gone aground at the very high tide; therefore, by the time assistance reached the scene, there was no way they could have successfully refloated the vessel.
The decision was made to take the crew members off the stricken vessel overnight for their safety, and at the next high tide, sometime in the morning, there would be attempts to refloat the boat.
