Maran Tankers Management, Greece’s Angelicoussis Group’s oil shipping arm (which boasts more than 140 vessels), manages Antonis I. Angelicoussis.
The Angelicoussis Group has participated in the Green Award program for over 27 years. In recent years, three of the Maran Tankers helped manage oil tankers that were certified by Green Award and four LNG tankers that sister firm Maran Gas Maritime operated.
Earlier in 2023, Antonis I. Angelicoussis was successfully delivered to the Maran Tankers Management, followed by its sister ships, Maran Danae, Maria A. Angelicoussis, and Maran Dione, over the recent months.
The four LNG-operated dual-fuel vessels, constructed by Samsung Heavy Industries of South Korea, are also a part of the Maran Tanker’s fleet expansion program, which includes eight new-build and LNG-operated dual-fuel Suezmax tankers per order. It is also worth observing that the four VLCCs are the world’s lowest emission and most ecologically friendly.
The Green Award Foundation reportedly recognized the potential of LNG to bring about immediate emissions reduction vs traditional fuel oil, with an option to evolve toward net zero emission via synthetic or bio-LNG. For 2022, special greenhouse gas labels were introduced to strengthen Green Award’s measures toward decarbonization and emissions reduction within the mission to recognize vessels that take the roles of front-runners.
Green-Award-certified vessels can easily benefit from non-financial and financial incentives awarded by the ports, service providers, and suppliers.
For oil tankers, 37 ports offer discounts on port dues that range from 3–15%. The Green Award seagoing program is heavily supported by more than 180 incentive providers all over the world.
