Crew Member of MTM Dublin Tanker Falls Overboard Near Boston Harbour

The crew members of a commercial fishing vessel successfully recovered an unresponsive individual who had reportedly fallen overboard from a tanker vessel and started CPR before the Coast Guard had rushed him to the shore for urgent medical care, officials mentioned.

The U.S. Coast Guard based in Boston responded to a call on Tuesday at 4:30 a.m. that a crew member had fallen off the MTM Dublin that issued a mayday.

The search had taken place in pitch-black conditions and rough, risky seas close to Boston Harbor, and the America found the crew member on being the first vessel on the scene, mentioned Petty Officer Lyric Jackson who is a Coast Guard spokesperson.

It was a fortunate event that the victim was found. The rescue team happened to spot his orange vest in the water, per Bryant Moulton — America’s captain.

Fisherman John Abraham who is a friend of the crew of America, said finding the man with flashlights, was similar to looking for a needle in a haystack.

That is all that they had, Abraham declared. Some boats have spotlights but they did not have the spotlights, Abraham mentioned.

The individual was unresponsive when he was pulled out of the water and crews did CPR on the victim as they were rushing him to the harbor, where he was moved to a Boston hospital, per a Boston EMS spokesperson.

They kept on the CPR all the way to the dock. That was a 45-minute, an hour ride, or beyond that. They never stopped, Moulton stated.

There are no details on how this fisherman had fallen overboard, but the crew members have told Boston 25 that it is close to a 40-foot drop into the water.
