U.S Navy Ship On Its 4-Day Visit Docks In Colombo, No Dates Revealed For Chinese Research Vessel

The China-based research vessel that is supposed to arrive in Sri Lanka this month has not yet been given a date by the government, but a US Navy ship has docked at the port of Colombo.

The expeditionary fast transport vessel USNS Brunswick made its formal four-day visit to Sri Lanka on Wednesday, according to that country’s navy.

The 24 crew members of the 103-meter ship will be visiting popular tourist destinations across the nation, according to a statement from the Sri Lanka Navy.

Local authorities have not yet disclosed the Chinese research vessel’s arrival dates.
The Chinese vessel SHI YAN 6 was scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka in October for maritime research operations, the nation said in August.

The officials had stated at the time that India’s objections delayed the approval to dock at a Sri Lankan port.

On Wednesday, India said a multilateral, rules-oriented international order, with respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty, remains the foundation for reviving the Indian Ocean as a strong community in a masked attack on China, which has been flexing its muscles in the zone.

Speaking at the 23rd Council of Ministers Meeting of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (popular as the IORA), Minister S Jaishankar, India’s External Affairs, said that it is crucial to maintain the Indian Ocean as an open, free, and inclusive space based on the UN Convention on the Law of the Seas (abbreviated the UNCLOS), as the Constitution of the Seas.
