In a few hours following the 7th October attack by Hamas, the U.S. started to move its war vessels and aircraft to the zone to be prepared to offer Israel whatever the nation needed to fight back. On Tuesday, more vessels and forces were headed toward Israel, and other troops in the U.S. were set to deploy if they were called on.
A U.S. aircraft carrier and strike group are in the eastern Mediterranean, and a second has also departed the U.S. and is also sailing that way.
Besides, three Marine war vessels are moving into the zone. The scores of aircraft were released to the U.S. military bases across the Middle East, and the American special operations forces are collaborating with the Israeli military in terms of planning as well as intelligence.
As of Tuesday, a total of five shipments comprising U.S. weapons as well as equipment reached Israel.
The buildup reflects growing U.S. concerns that the deadly fighting between Israel and Hamas will reportedly escalate into a wider regional conflict. So, the crucial mission for American vessels and warplanes is to establish a huge and visible presence that will prevent Hezbollah, Iran, or others from taking benefit of the situation.
