Motor Tanker “Sea Horse” caught fire at the Alpha Anchorage Area in Batangas, which continued for about two hours from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., resulting in the death of one individual on Sunday, Oct 22, 2023.
The Coast Guard Station received a call at 9:00 a.m. and got the information about the tankers condition, after which the search and rescue operation was initiated by the CGS with the help of BRB, BFP (Bureau of Fire PRotection), and PDRRMO (Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office), along with some nearby tugboats.
The fire was reportedly extinguished at 11:08 a.m. Further investigations have been initiated to identify the matter closely.
A day before, another incident was reported, resulting in the engine failure of the passenger ship “MV Our Lady of Fatima 03” around 9:30 a.m., sailing southwest off Fortune Island in Nasugbu, Batangas, on Saturday, Oct 21, 2023.
Luckily, no casualties were reported, and all 63 individuals were rescued, of which 54 were passengers and 9 were crew members.
