MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, the biggest shipping firm in the world, has dubbed MSC Türkiye one of the most fuel-efficient and largest container vessels by design to date.
The naming ceremony was conducted on 30 October, the day that followed Republic Day, which marked the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic.
The 61-meter-wide and 400-meter-long vessel stands out with the lowest carbon footprint per container transported and a massive reduction in CO2 emissions per transport work, per the firm.
On the occasion, the newest 24,000 TEU Celestino Maresca-class vessel made a maiden call at Asyaport, the largest transit container port of Türkiye.

Today, they bear witness to another milestone. The authorities wish that MSC Türkiye, the largest container vessel in the world, fair winds and following seas, and the company keep serving and growing, contributing to a brighter future, explained Hasan Piroğlu, MSC Türkiye’s CEO.
The 241,000 dwt container vessel was constructed at the Jiangsu Yangzi Xinfu shipyard based in China. It was successfully delivered to MSC in August 2023, data shared by VesselsValue reflects.
The box ship further incorporates innovative and environmentally friendly features like an air lubrication system and a hybrid scrubber system.
MSC has reportedly taken the delivery of multiple 24,000 TEU boxships until now in the current year, including the MSC Tessa, the MSC Raya, the MSC Irina, the MSC Celestino Maresca, and MSC Micol.
