A 16-year-old passenger on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship ended up dying after apparently falling from a balcony. The unfortunate incident happened early in the three-day journey between Port Canaveral, Florida, and Nassau, Bahamas, aboard the Allure of the Seas ship.
The teenager fell from a balcony onto a deck, according to other passengers who spoke with TMZ. It’s still unclear if the fall was deliberate.
According to witnesses, a request for blood donations was made to passengers early on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, the young passenger passed away from his injuries despite being taken to a hospital right away.
Visuals taken by other passengers show security tape securing a balcony and a section of the deck blocked off by a makeshift wall and tent.
Although offering its condolences, Royal Caribbean declined to release any information regarding the incident. “We are saddened to learn of the passing of a guest, and our hearts go out to the family,” a spokesperson said.
The cruise line declined to provide more information, so the specifics of the fall remain unknown. This sorrowful event is just the most recent in a long line of unfortunate ones involving the cruise line.
Past incidents of passengers passing away from falls on cruise ships have emphasised the need for ongoing safety measures.
