The Yemeni Houthi movement is going to expand its targets to include U.S. vessels, an official from the Iran-allied forces mentioned on Monday. The ship does not have to be sailing to Israel for us to target it necessarily; it is sufficient for it to be American, per Nasruldeen Amer, a spokesman for the Houthis, mentioned Al Jazeera.
The U.S. is on the verge of losing maritime security. Amer said that American and British vessels had become “legitimate targets” owing to the strikes carried out by the two nations on Yemen over the previous week.
Attacks launched by the Houthis (who state that their actions are in solidarity with Palestinians) on vessels since October have hit commerce and also alarmed the significant powers in a regional escalation of Israel’s over three-month war with the Hamas militants based in Gaza.
In the latest attack, a U.S.-owned bulk carrier was targeted and struck by a missile close to the port of Aden, resulting in a fire in a hold but zero injuries on board, per British Maritime Security major named Ambrey.
