U.S Denies Houthi Claims Of Missile Attack On Sea Base USS Lewis B. Puller

Houthi rebels in Yemen have claimed responsibility for a missile attack that went toward USS Lewis B. Puller, an expeditionary maritime base of the U.S. Navy located in the Gulf of Aden. Meanwhile, U.S. officials have entirely denied the reported occurrence. Gen. Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthis, connected it to their resistance to the Israeli offensive in Gaza.

Any proof did not support the reported attack, and the statements made by Houthi authorities in the past have been viewed with suspicion. The Houthis have a record of attacking ships in the Red Sea; most recently, they shot the MV Marlin Luanda, which is purportedly owned by the British firm Oceonix Services Ltd. The French Frigate F.S. Alsace, the Indian Navy Frigate INS Visakhapatnam, and the U.S. Navy ship USS Carney all contributed to the resulting fire.

The Pentagon was unable to verify the claimed attack on USS Lewis B. Puller, according to Deputy Pentagon news Secretary Sabrina Singh during a news briefing. U.S. authorities emphasised the absence of evidence and publicly disputed the Houthi assertion.

In 2022, Iranian patrol boats from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN) harassed the USS Lewis B. Puller, which had been delivered in 2015. Additionally, it played a significant role in the massive haul of illicit weapons that were headed toward the Houthis that were discovered in the Gulf of Oman.

The Houthi attacks have escalated tensions in the area by focusing on commercial ships in addition to military ones. The Pentagon has promised to respond appropriately to the U.S. accusations that Iran supports proxy organisations, such as the Houthis.

Three troops lost their lives when a one-way attack drone fired by a proxy organisation with Iranian origins struck a U.S. station in Jordan. Specialist Kennedy Sanders, Sgt.
