In a historic event, the Cyprus Shipping Chamber (CSC) announced the adoption of 1,000 ships through its renowned ‘Adopt a Ship’ educational initiative.
The event was held on April 17, 2024, at Limassol’s famous Columbia Plaza Venue.
The occasion was attended by prominent figures such as Shipping Deputy Minister Marina Hadjimanoli and a Ministry of Education representative, as well as 100 students and 14 teachers from Limassol’s five elementary schools.
The ‘Adopt a Ship’ programme is an excellent example of educational innovation.
It provides primary school students with intensive exposure to the dynamic world of shipping and its professional complexities.
Not only does it educate young minds, but it also seeks to enlighten the public about the Shipping industry’s numerous benefits, emphasizing its critical role in the economy and society.
The Cyprus Shipping Chamber and CYMEPA launched the programme in 2006, and it has received official assistance from important governmental agencies such as the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, and the Shipping Deputy Ministry.
Since its inception, its annual execution has demonstrated its long-term success.
The celebratory event coincides with the Chamber’s 35th anniversary celebration, which dates back to its establishment in 1989.
The CSC continues to support education and awareness in the marine sector through projects such as ‘Adopt a Ship’, assuring a bright future for the industry and its stakeholders.
