The Italian police are currently highlighting their efforts to crack down on the smuggling of illicit narcotics into the nation.
The State Police are reporting 24 significant raids in the Policoro area in southern Italy, whereas, in the north at Ravenna on the Adriatic, they are reporting a massive seizure of cocaine discovered underneath the waterline on a bulker.
The combined investigation was conducted by the State Police and the Financial Police in association with several law enforcement units and targeted anti-drug units.
The bulker, identified as a vessel with the Marshall Islands flag, reached overnight from northern Europe from April 22 to April 23.

On reviewing its documentation, it was found that it was sailing from Brazil, where it departed in February.
The vessel underwent a thorough assessment, assisted by divers from the Guardia di Finanza’s Rimini Naval Air Operations Department.
Many unidentified packages were hidden in the sea intake pipes roughly nine meters underneath the waterline during the check.
The divers also brought the packages to the surface for examination by the anti-drug units.
Inside, investigators discovered 139 blocks with pure cocaine, for nearly 150 kgs.
It is estimated that the recovered drugs would’ve fetched more than 25 million euros to the retail market.
