World’s Largest Maritime Security Partnership Gets Lebanon & Albania As New Members

Combined Maritime Forces welcomed Albania and Lebanon as the 44th and 45th members of the largest maritime security partnership in the world.

CMF is the world’s greatest naval collaboration, consisting of a headquarters staff in Bahrain and five combined task forces highly focused on maritime security training, maritime security, and regional anti-piracy initiatives.

US Navy Vice Admiral George Wikoff, the CMF commander, said it was a great pleasure to welcome Albania and Lebanon to the Combined Maritime Forces.

He added that the expansion of CMF brings skills and expertise from more nations and that he looks forward to preparing together as they continue to set the global benchmark.

The combined task forces comprise:

CTF 150 focuses on maritime security in the Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Oman, and the Indian Ocean.

CTF 151, which heads regional anti-piracy initiatives.

CTF 152 is committed to maritime security in the waters of the Arabian Gulf.

CTF 153, in charge of maritime security in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Bab al-Mandeb.

CTF 154, established in May last year, enhances regional maritime security training.

The collective areas of responsibility of the combined task forces encompass 3.2 million sq. miles of water, covering some of the most important shipping lanes in the world.
