Goa Shipyard Employee Arrested For Sharing Confidential Naval Data With Pakistan’s ISI

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) has arrested a Goa Shipyard Naval base employee for allegedly disclosing sensitive data regarding Indian Navy warships to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

The accused, identified as Ram Singh, 31, a resident of Ramwapur village in Pipraich, Gorakhpur, was arrested on Saturday.

According to senior ATS personnel, Singh was honey-trapped by a woman using the identity ‘Kirti’.

Singh formed a close friendship with ‘Kirti’ over several months of regular conversations when she sent him a friend request on social media.

She eventually persuaded him to photograph naval commanders and ships at the shipyard and share the images with ISI handlers.

Singh’s employment at the Goa military station included working on insulation for a repair firm, which gave him access to various military vessels, including the INS Vikramaditya, INS Vikrant, Swarna, and Subhadra.

According to the ATS press release, Singh obtained money from several suspicious sources in his bank accounts, which he then transferred to other ISI agents using various digital wallets.

This financial trial was one of the most critical pieces of evidence leading to his arrest.

An FIR has been filed against Singh under Section 121-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which deals with conspiracy to wage war against the Indian government.

Additional interrogations are underway to establish potential connections to additional ISI agents and probe deeper into the espionage network.

The incident highlights India’s defence facilities’ persistent challenges and risks and the importance of strict security measures and attentiveness against espionage activities.
