The US Central Command forces successfully destroyed an uncrewed aerial system (UAS) fired from an Iranian-backed Houthi-controlled area of Yemen at approximately 10 a.m. (local time) on May 26.
It was determined that the UAS posed a risk to merchant vessels in the region.
Earlier on May 25, Houthis fired two anti-ship ballistic missiles (ASBM) at around 3:50 a.m. (local time) towards the Red Sea.
There were no reports of injuries or damages to the United States, coalition forces, or commercial vessels.
This malign and reckless behaviour of the Houthis threatens regional stability, endangering the lives of mariners navigating the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea.
Additionally, on May 23, the US Central Command forces engaged a Land Attack Cruise Missile (LACM) in a Houthi-controlled zone in Yemen at about 8:10 p.m. per Sanaa time.
It was determined that the LACM posed an imminent risk to the US, merchant vessels, and coalition forces in the area.
These actions were taken to safeguard freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for US, merchant, and coalition vessels.
