Oslo’s roll-on/roll-off shipping major, Wallenius Wilhelmsen, has ordered four additional “Shaper class” vessels.
With the new additions, the firm currently holds agreements for 12 next-gen Shaper-class vessels, indicating a significant expansion of its fleet.
At a whopping 9,300 CEU capacity, these Shaper-class vessels are expected to secure their positions among the world’s largest Pure Car and Truck Carriers.
These dual-fuel vessels are exclusively designed to be ammonia-ready and methanol-capable.
The most recent order, declared on May 25, stems from the declared options the firm secured in March with CSC Jinling Shipyard Co., Ltd.
Wallenius Wilhelmsen now has the opportunity to build four additional vessels.
The firm further mentioned that the options as of March 25 do not indicate an enhanced ambition for the new building mission to exceed the 12 vessels initially declared in August last year.
The four new vessels will be delivered in late 2027 or early 2028.
The firm is working to deliver the first four vessels during the second half of 2026, followed by the second set comprising four vessels between May and November 2027.
