A cargo ship loaded with containers crashed with a barrier beneath the Brickell Avenue Bridge early July 16, 2024, afternoon, Miami police confirmed.
Officer Kiara Delva, a Miami Police Department spokesperson, reported that the incident occurred around noon.
The incident was recorded in a video and published on the X (formerly Twitter) account of the popular video news company Only in Dade.
The video shows pieces of the barrier falling into the water as the ship’s bow makes contact with the bridge and moves underneath it.
Despite the incident, Delva assured that the bridge had no structural damage and that no injuries were reported.

Delva added that the vehicle traffic will continue to operate normally.
The US Coast Guard alerted the boaters about the incident.
Petty Officer 2nd Class Diana Sherbs confirmed that the marine traffic under the bridge remains open, and the drawbridge will be raised for larger vessels.
The ship, marked with the Antillean Marine Shipping Corporation label, operates out of the Miami River.
Attempts to contact the company for comments were not immediately responded.
The incident is still being investigated; further updates will be provided as they become available.
