Watch: Disney Cruise Line’s Newest Ship Leaves Meyer Werft Shipyard For Sea Trials

Disney Treasure, the newest Disney Cruise Line ship, made her conveyance from the German shipyard to the ocean berth in the Netherlands as it entered the final stage of construction.

It travelled for 16 hours on the winding voyage along the River Ems from Papenburg, aided by tugs. The ship is 341 m long and has a beam of 128 m.

Meyer decided to take its stern first along the river to better control the vessel while it turns and guide it along the narrow passage. It can accommodate 4000 guests and 1555 crew members.

Disney Treasure left the shipyard at midday on September 18 and reached Eemshaven, Netherlands, on the morning of September 19.

The ship will remain alongside for the finishing touches and for preparations to deliver it to Disney Cruise Line.

It will also undergo sea trials to test its speed and manoeuvrability and ensure all onboard systems are working properly. It is Disney Cruise Line’s second dual-fuel LNG Cruise ship.

Disney Treasure is the second of three cruise ships that Disney ordered from Meyer Werft. The first is Disney Wish, delivered in 2022, and the third is Disney Destiny, which will be delivered in 2025.

A fourth one will be constructed for Oriental Land Company, the operator of the Disney Theme Park and a resort in Japan.

Disney placed an order for 4 more cruise ships of a new class which will be constructed by Meyer Werft and will be delivered between 2027 and 2031.

After the delivery, Disney Treasure will leave the Netherlands for Port Canaveral in Florida, her homeport. The ship will enter service in December and sail to the Caribbean.

It offers unique accommodations for guests, like the Tomorrow Tower Suite suite in the forward funnel. It measures 2000 square feet and can accommodate eight people.

The majority of the 1256 staterooms offer an ocean view, and about 70% have a verandah. The decor is based on themes from Disney, Star Wars, Pixar, and Marvel.

New Themes can be seen in the three main dining rooms, which also have family spaces, spaces for children’s activities, adult-only spaces, etc. Above the upper decks are jets that propel 2-person ride vehicles called Aquamouse.
