An oil spill occurred off Changi, Singapore, during a bunkering operation involving the Bahamas-flagged bulk carrier Ines Corrado and an authorized bunker tanker.
The incident occurred at about 5:40 PM on October 28, which led to an immediate halt to bunkering operations.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) was notified of the spill and dispatched response vessels to the scene, which arrived around 5:50 p.m.
Authorities instantly sprayed dispersants to reduce the spill’s impact. During the operation, an estimated five tonnes of oil spilled.
In response to the spill, a Current Buster has been deployed near Changi to recover any oil that may be visible in the water.
