Two Indian Navy officers had a close call when their parachutes got tangled during a rehearsal for an operational demonstration at Rama Krishna Beach in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on January 3, 2025.
The incident happened just a day before the scheduled demonstration and a video of the mishap was quickly circulated on social media. The two officers were practising for the upcoming event when their parachutes got caught.
One officer was carrying the national flag, and both officers lost control as their parachutes became entangled. With no way to steer, they fell into the water close to the shore.
No injuries or casualties were reported. A Navy boat, which was already stationed nearby, quickly rescued them and brought them safely to the shore.
Several people who had gathered at the beach to watch the rehearsal witnessed the entire incident.
The Indian Navy MARCOS are fine. They did not collide; instead, the parachutes had become entangled. The rescue boats were nearby and reached the location where they had fallen.#Vizag pic.twitter.com/SRoKqJplhV
