Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence Team revealed its new sea drones for the first time. These unmanned drones have proved vital in the destruction of several Russian vessels and aircraft.
The MAGURA drones have significantly helped HUR’s special unit Group 13 to shift the tide of naval warfare in the Black Sea in favour of Ukraine.
The publicly displayed strike drones included the MAGURA V5, the main naval drone of Ukraine in the fight against the Russian fleet. It can carry around 320 kg of payload and is equipped with a combat module having a machine gun.
They also showed the MAGURA V6P multipurpose platform with a 540 nm range and the MAGURA V7. The latter had destroyed the enemy’s warplane, and it can carry 650 kg of payload and has a range of 800 nm.
Another MAGURA V7 model fitted with a heavy machine gun combat module was also displayed.
The unit’s commander, known by call sign Thirteenth, said that they have pushed the Russian fleet back to their home ports and restricted their movements, and they will not be able to fulfil their missions.
The several modifications of MAGURA sea drones have enabled Ukraine to destroy 17 Russian targets, including 2 Mi-8 helicopters, two Su-30 fighter jets, and vessels of Moscow’s Black Sea Fleet, like the Sergey Kotov, Ivanovets, Tsezar Kunikov, and others.
The estimated damage caused to Russia is over 500 million dollars.
However, Russian ships continue to sail in Ukrainian waters, especially around the occupied Crimea. Regular drone strikes by Ukraine with the help of sea drones, UAVs and missiles have forced Moscow to relocate a part of its fleet to Novorossiysk.
