A father’s swift response saved his daughter when she fell overboard from a Disney Cruise Ship.
It happened on June 29, 2025, when the 4000-capacity cruise ship was returning to Fort Lauderdale from a 4-night Bahamian cruise. The man kept his daughter afloat for around twenty minutes until the arrival of the rescue team.
Passengers shared the incident on social media, praising the heroic act of the father who saved his daughter after she fell from the 4th deck of the 14-deck cruise ship.
After the girl fell, the man overboard was triggered, and both the man and his daughter were rescued swiftly.
Videos online showed guests cheering as the two safely got on the rescue boat, after being in the water for a few minutes, said witnesses.
The girl reportedly fell after her father took a picture of her against the cruise ship railing.
A passenger named Laura Amador said that the cruise ship was moving fast, and it’s surprising how quickly people seemed to look like small dots in the sea.
She added that the captain slowed the cruise ship and turned it around. The crew also sent a tender ship with people to save the duo.
Disney informed of the incident in a statement but did not reveal the details. It praised the crew for their actions and expertise, which they showed in an emergency.
Though it is rare for passengers to fall from cruise ships, rescues are not always successful.
Per the 2019 Cruise Lines International Association report, 25 people fell overboard in 2019 from cruise ships, and only 9 were rescued.
