A Ukrainian drone strike hit Russia’s southern port city of Novorossiisk on Wednesday, killing two people and injuring six, regional officials reported on Telegram. A top official confirmed that a state of emergency had been declared after the attack.
Novorossiisk is Russia’s main Black Sea port and a critical hub for oil and grain exports. The strike damaged the Caspian Pipeline Consortium’s (CPC) office, injuring two employees.
Despite the damage, its terminal at Yuzhnaya Ozereyevka, located across the bay, remained operational. The facility continues loading Caspian CPC Blend crude oil for international markets.
The Russian emergency services ministry issued a warning of more drone threats across the entire Krasnodar region, which borders the Black Sea.
Regional authorities also cautioned that the Black Sea port of Tuapse was at risk of strikes from Ukrainian naval drones. As a precaution, residents and visitors were told to leave the coastal strip. The Black Sea port of Tuapse is an important Russian seaport located in Krasnodar Krai. It serves as a hub for oil exports, general cargo, and regional trade.
Ukraine has increasingly targeted Russian energy facilities and export infrastructure, aiming to disrupt revenue sources that help sustain Moscow’s war economy. The strike on Novorossiisk is the latest in a series of attacks on ports and terminals vital to Russia’s oil and grain trade.
