The Ultra Large Container Ship, MSC Tina, suffered heavy damage after crashing into the pier on 27th March in Istanbul.
The 398m long mega containership got involved in the accident when it was manoeuvring into the port of Ambarli, Istanbul.
As seen in the photos and videos, there is heavy damage caused on the ship side. According to the reports, the Pier has also suffered severe damage.
According to the statement made by the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs:
“Liberia Flagged MSC TINA, 398.5 meters tall container ship, crashed into Marport’s pier during the docking manoeuvre in Ambarlı on 27 March 2021. While the accident, the pier, and the ship were heavily damaged, no casualties, injuries or environmental pollution occurred.”
The ship was later shifted to the Ambarli Demir area for further investigation and inspection of the extent of the damage.
There have been no reports of injury to the crew.
