In a recent announcement, Singapore has banned crew change for seafarers with recent travel history to India as a result of the huge spike of COVID-19 cases in the country.
The circular states that the following crew change will not be allowed in the Port of Singapore and is effective from 23rd April 2021, 2359 hours:
The decision will have a huge impact as Singapore is a global maritime hub and the industry majorly relies on Indian crew.
Other countries like Dubai are also looking to put restrictions on people travelling from India, which might further lead to a major crew change crises similar to the one faced last year.
