A severely injured individual has been taken to the hospital following an accident on a vessel berthed at a container wharf in Auckland. Paramedics and firefighters were called to the Fergusson Wharf a little after 7.30 am.
The person slipped and got trapped in a raising gangway – the stairs, which lead from a vessel to the wharf – by their legs, suffering injuries.
Fire and Emergency NZ informed that they were at the scene with St John’s ambulance staff, leading the mission.
A spokesperson from St John has confirmed that a person had been severely injured and was being shifted to hospital to be treated.
The incident site was the downtown waterfront container terminal on Tamaki Dr in Auckland. Matt Ball, the spokesman for the Ports of Auckland confirmed the crew member’s injury.
