Detectives Examine Seaman’s Death After A Fall From Ship Off The Hartlepool Coast

Paramedics, lifeboat volunteers, and air ambulance paramedics immediately rushed to rescue the man following the reports he had reportedly fallen into the water off the coast of Hartlepool when moving between the vessels right after 2 pm on Monday, 26 September.

The North East Ambulance Service was informed over a call at 2.16 pm and dispatched the air ambulance with a paramedic crew member and clinical team leader.

The man was rushed to the hospital even though Cleveland Police confirmed on 27 September, Tuesday that he had sadly lost his life.

Cleveland Police said that right after 2.30 pm yesterday, police reported that a crew member from a vessel registered overseas had fallen overboard into the water at Hartlepool while moving between the boats.

The victim was taken out of the water by his colleagues, initially assisted by the RNLI, and then treated by the paramedics at the scene. Still, unfortunately, he was announced to be deceased a short time right afterwards.

Detectives from homicide and significant inquiry teams are continuing inquiries in association with other expert agencies to establish the circumstances of this incident. A postmortem will take place to ascertain the cause of the death.

The Great North Air Ambulance added that the critical care team was activated on Monday at 2.37 pm to an incident at Hartlepool.

Two paramedics and a doctor were onboard the aircraft, arriving on the scene at 2.45 pm.

The team members worked along the North East Ambulance Service to assess and treat a patient.
