The accident happened around 11:30 am on Wednesday, and now the ship is stuck at Pukuria Point near Garchumuk in Howrah district. But the good news is that a pilot from Kolkata Port is on board to help, and tugboats from Kolkata and Haldia are also on their way to assist in freeing the ship.
The plan is to try and get the ship unstuck by using the high tide, which is expected to be on Wednesday night or early Thursday. They want to ensure the container ship is free and moving again as soon as possible. The captain has been told to ensure all the containers are properly secured so they don’t fall into the water during the rescue operation. An oil spill could harm the environment, but luckily, no spills have been reported.
This accident is a reminder of how important it is to keep ships in good condition and to be prepared for any problems that might come up at sea. The authorities will closely monitor the situation and give updates until the ship is safely moving again.
