Trials of a fighting bot built by Swadeshi Empresa for the Indian Navy under the SPRINT initiative were undertaken on INS Vikrant. It detects fire and extinguishes with water, foam jet, or spray, keeping individuals away from any danger, the Indian Navy explained.
SPRINT denotes Supporting Pole-Vaulting in R&D through Innovations for Defence Excellence. It is a strong and collaborative initiative undertaken by India’s Naval Innovation and Indigenisation (abbreviated NIIO) in association with the Defence Innovation Organization (known as DIO) and the Technology Development Acceleration Cell (the TDAC), per the Ministry of Defence (MoD). The initiative has, until now, received overwhelming responses with 1106 proposals, the ministry mentioned.
