Situated in South Florida, Port Everglades is among the world’s busiest cruise ports. It is also a top container port in Florida and one of the most active cargo facilities in the U.S.
Cameras caught the Coast Guards as they offloaded the drugs at the port. USCG Vice Admiral Kevin Lunday said that most people are impacted by illegal drugs in the U.S or at least know someone who suffers from drug addiction and its negative effects on one’s life.
The drugs were confiscated in the last 4 months during suspected drug smuggling interdictions in the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
A U.S Navy vessel and 4 Coast Guard Cutters took the drugs during 13 different seizure operations, per the officials, who described it as a complicated and risky task.
Lunday added that it is not only about drugs but much more than that. It is about the national security of the United States. Per reports, the authorities will destroy the confiscated drugs.
