U.S. Navy’s Newest Fleet Replenishment Oiler USNS Robert F. Kennedy Christened In San Diego

The USNS Robert F. Kennedy was reportedly launched and christened in San Diego on Saturday before a gathering of dignitaries, which included several former senators and 11 children of the attorney general.

The audience at the Gen Dynamics NASSCO shipyard included Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker Emerita associated with the U.S. House of Representatives, D-San Francisco, the Navy’s Sec Carlos Del Toro, Darrell Issa, R-San Diego, Sara Jacobs, D-San Diego; Dolores Huerta, the civil rights leader; and Dave Carver – the General Dynamics NASSCO’s President and many others.

Bobby Kennedy represents the hope for a better future, a future of justice, equality, and unity, mentioned Rear Admiral Brendan McLane, the special assistant to the commander of the U.S. Third Fleet.

While at sea, the USNS Robert F. Kennedy is going to be called upon to sustain a different kind of unity and hope.

She’ll be on the high seas, defending American interests globally, going into harm’s way to sustain sailors and war vessels.

Everyone was reminded of the value of a deployed naval force just three weeks ago, after the attacks by Hamas, McLane added.

In a moment’s notice, the Navy was there, on station in the eastern Mediterranean, living up to the axiom that when things go wrong, the national command authority’s first question comes up: `Where are the strike groups?”‘

Pelosi said that in christening this formidable vessel that is being honoured at the leadership and
legacy of Kennedy, who was assassinated in LA in 1968 (June) on winning the presidential primary of
the California Democratic.
