Pro-Palestine Activists Halt Israeli Shipping Company Operations in Melbourne

A pro-Palestine demonstration by around 300 individuals compelled Israeli shipping major ZIM to alter the arrival of a cargo vessel into the Port of Melbourne, per the World Socialist Web Site.

For nearly 12 hours, the demonstrators had occupied the road that led to the Victorian International Container Terminal (abbreviated the VICT), preventing trucks, some loaded with ZIM containers, from any access to the port.

ZIM is Israel’s greatest shipping firm. In the previous month, it reaffirmed its dedication and commitment to catering to the national needs of the nation, offering the Netanyahu regime its ships as well as infrastructure for the nation’s onslaught against Gaza.

Those who had been participating in the protest included the Palestinian community members, as well as students, young individuals, and activists.
