AtoB@C Shipping celebrated the delivery of Electramar, the first in a breakthrough series of 12 highly efficient plug-in hybrid ships. These ships are designed to reduce CO2 emissions from the fleet by as much as 50%. Their cutting-edge features include shore power connectivity and an extensive battery system that guarantees optimal fuel economy and reduces noise and pollution while in port.
The head of AtoB@C Shipping’s board and managing director of ESL Shipping, Mikki Koskinen, takes pleasure in leading the effort for environmentally friendly shipping. “Electramar is the first of many vessels to help us achieve our vision of being the most responsible and reliable partner for our customers and stakeholders.”
These ships have been designed to handle various breakbulk and bulk goods. In comparison to other fleet boats, the location of the bridge and crew quarters at the bow creates a large, clear deck that can accommodate more deck freight and longer project loads.
Frida Rowland, Commercial Director, emphasised the company’s dedication to fulfilling customers’ increasing need for a modern and sustainable fleet. Launched on October 1, 2023, Stellamar is the second ship in the series. As previously reported, the firm founded by the pooling investor group will purchase each alternate vessel in the series of 12 next-generation electric hybrid vessels.
