All vessels sailing for Israeli ports are going to be targeted by the Iran-backed Houthis and not only in the Red Sea zone, Abdulmalik al-Houthi, the group’s leader, mentioned over a televised speech on Thursday.
The group has also threatened to extend the attacks on vessels that were headed to the Israeli ports to the waters of the Mediterranean Sea in what they call a campaign of solidarity with the Palestinians during the Israeli war with Hamas in Gaza.
Al-Houthi has reportedly urged China, Russia, Asian and European nations not to transport goods to Israeli ports.
The Houthis have earlier stated that their main targets are Israel and its allies, the United States and Britain.
All must stop transporting to the occupied Palestinian ports.
It’s in the interest of all firms to halt transporting to the Israeli enemy toward the Mediterranean Sea or in any direction, al-Houthi mentioned.
Houthi attacks have reportedly raised the cost of insurance and shipping by disrupting a crucial trade route between Europe and Asia, compelling shipping firms to reroute to more expensive and longer journeys via southern Africa.
