Three Indian Navy vessels are currently deployed in the Philippines to strengthen maritime cooperation with the nation.
Their visit is a part of the operational deployment of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet to the much-disputed South China Sea.
Indian Navy vessels INS Delhi, INS Kiltan, and INS Shakti reached Manila on Sunday (May 19, 2024), a Navy spokesperson said.
The official said the goal is to strengthen maritime cooperation and longstanding friendship.
The Philippines Navy welcomed the vessels.
During the visit, the personnel from the navies will engage in an extensive range of professional interactions, including subject matter specialist exchange, cross-deck visits, sports fixtures, cultural visits, and collaborative community outreach missions, the spokesperson said.
He said that the vessels would also participate in a Maritime Partnership Exercise (abbreviated as MPX) with the Philippines Navy.
