U.S. Navy Intercepts & Destroys Houthi-Launched Drones And Missiles In Red Sea

The US Centcom forces destroyed a Houthi-launched uncrewed aerial system (abbreviated as the UAS) in the southern Red Sea between 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. (Sanaa time) on June 1, 2024.

US Centcom forces further observed two more UAS crashes into the waters of the Red Sea.

The US, coalition, or commercial vessels reported no injuries or damages.

Additionally, between 7 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., the US Centcom forces engaged two Houthi anti-ship ballistic missiles (abbreviated as ASBM) in the waters of the southern Red Sea.

The ASBM were fired toward the USS Gravely and were impaired in self-defence, with zero damages or injuries observed by the US, coalition, or commercial vessels.

It has been determined that the UAS and ASBM posed an imminent threat to the US, coalition forces, and merchant vessels in the area.

US Centcom’s actions are taken to safeguard the freedom of navigation and, at the same time, make international waters safer and more secure for the US, coalition, and merchant vessels.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations reported an unrelated incident 48 nautical miles southwest of Hodeidah, where a vessel’s master reported an explosion at a distance from his vessel.
